Over the last few weeks, there's been much
speculation that Sony Ericsson's highly-anticipated Xperia X1 is delayed, possibly until next year. The smartphone, announced in Februrary, is supposed to ship during the fourth quarter of 2008. According to a spokeswoman, quoted in
Reuters, that's not the case, however.

You may be asking yourself: What's so special about the Xperia X1? First off, the Windows Mobile-run smartphone is a major change of pace for Sony Ericsson, a company that usually builds smartphones on the Symbian OS and its own UIQ platform.
Second, it sports a unique arc slider design. So when you slide up the Xperia X1's high-resolution 3-inch, WVGA (840 x 480-pixel) touch screen, a wide QWERTY thumb-keyboard is revealed.
