By James Alan Miller Otterbox has just made a version of its rugged series of Defender cases ($49.95) available for the iPhone 3G. Listening to customer suggestions about the first generation iPhone Defender case, OtterBox says it has improved the design of the iPhone 3G model by allowing access to the silence switch and improving the screen cover. The Defender protects against drops, bumps and shock. It is composed of a clear polycarbonate sheet with a hard coating that offers chemical and abrasion protection, a hi-impact polycarbonate skeleton, and a premium grade silicone skin. Sync/charge, home, sleep/wake, volume, camera and headphone jack all remain accessible. Acoustical vents safeguard the microphone and speakers from dust and dirt to allow clear sound transmission. Case also includes a holster-style swivel belt clip which converts into a display stand when device is inserted screen out. Available in black, the iPhone 3G Defender will eventually ship in white, black/yellow and pink. Pink cases benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade with 10 percent of proceeds being donated to the cause. For those needing less extreme protection; OtterBox will soon be offering a new silicone, skin-like case known as the Impact Series. This case will combine durable silicone with impact absorbing features and complete user interaction.Related Links:
