Firmware 2.1 adds a number of new features to the iPhone and iPod touch, in addition to many much-needed bug fixes and enhancements. Among these new features is the ability to pause a download. So, for example, when you purchase an application from the App Store, an icon representing that title appears on the last page of your iPhone or iPod touch's Home Screen. Underneath the icon, the iPhone OS tells you the application is Loading (see left). To pause the download simply tap the icon. The wording underneath the icon will then tell you the download's been Paused (see right). To start the download up again, all you need to do is tap it again.
