Tip: Windows Mobile - How to Beam a Photo

By Amy Mayer
August 12, 2008

For quick transfers of pictures from your camera phone to someone else or to your computer, try the Beam feature on your Windows Mobile device.

While viewing a photo, click on Menu and choose Beam picture. On the next screen, the file name will come up with a list of possible destinations (it may take your device a few seconds to populate the device). Anything that can receive an infrared beam and any Bluetooth device that has a relationship with your handheld should come up.

Select the device to receive your photo.

If you choose a Bluetooth device, it will signal the connection and then request permission to continue. Click okay. The file will be placed in your Bluetooth Exchange Server folder (likely found here: C:/documents and settings/administrator/my documents/Bluetooth exchange server, if you don't regularly log in as "administrator" this may not be your normal My Documents folder).

If you select an infrared device, tap the "tap to send" link. You will be prompted to align the devices' ports and then the file will be transferred.
