World Concepts Drops Free-Form Mobile Translator

By Amy Mayer
July 24, 2008

Traveling to multiple European countries and you're not a polygot (one who speaks more than three languages)? World Concepts Inc. sells a translation package that can produce free-form, which is to say better-than-literal, translations between English and French, Spanish and German. If you purchase the full package, you can also get translations between any two of those languages.

The software, the company claims, analyzes sentences so that after producing the translated words it can rearrange them into a grammatically-correct format in the target language. Whether or not it works better than other on-line translators, installing it on your smartphone means you always have access-and it's much less cumbersome than toting around three dictionaries.
