To the chagrin of some folks, the iPhone 3G does not ship with a docking station. You need to shell out $29 to get one from Apple. If you've got a dock from an old iPhone, you may be in luck, however. A couple of users have modified their original iPhone's docking stations to fit the new model. They've done so using a rotary tool sporting a tapered grinding bit; best for avoiding the all important connector. The result doesn’t look pretty, but it appears to do the job and is certainly a lot cheaper than shelling out for a new dock. [My First Tech Blog via tuaw] |
