Rogers Wireless Launches Nokia N95 in Canada

ogers Wireless of Canada has just become the first carrier in North American to launch the Nokia N95. As expected, the version of the N95 Rogers is offering includes support for the type of 3G used by mobile operators on this continent and 8GB of memory.

Starting tomorrow, the N95 will for $399.99 with a three-year contract and a subscription to Rogers Vision Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan. Basically the same edition of this smartphone is available in the U.S., but it is unlocked and not subsided by a carrier, for a whopping $800.

Nokia's uber smartphone sports a 2.8-inch, at 240 x 320 pixel(QVGA) display, in addition to a 5-megapixel camera with 20x zoom and support for 30 frames per second video capture, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS. Using TeleNav in conjunction with the integrated GPS, users can get where they are going using turn-by-turn directionsand on-screen maps, for example.

The N95's unique two-way slider design reveals media controls when slid one way and a numeric keypad when moved the other way.

Built-in stereo speakers offer a 3D stereo effect, plus there's a standard 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones, and mini USB for data transfers. Bluetooth with A2DP allows users to leverage wireless stereo headsets as well.

Users can upload pictures to Flickr, update a profile on Facebook and buy and download music from the Rogers MusicStore, which features 1.8 million tracks. The Rogers Vision service includes Radio on Demand, Video on Demand and Mobile TV.

With Rogers MobileMail, users can read, reply, forward, delete and compose e-mails from up to ten email accounts, including Rogers Mail, Yahoo! and Windows Live Mail.

Lastly, it features 3D graphics and is compatible with Nokia's N-Gage gaming service, for over-the-air access to a variety of games, including EA Sports' FIFA 08 to Gameloft's Asphalt 3: Street Rules.
