The Zumobi-specific tile format gives you visuals to organize your favorites for faster mobile web surfing. Unfortunately, though the list of available tiles seems to be growing, downloading new ones isn't so fast when you try to do so directly to your smartphone, especially if your trying to do so over anything but a Wi-Fi or 3G connection. Okay, that's not entirely true-if one of the featured tiles appeals to you, you're golden. But if you want to search the Zumobi site and pick some new tiles, you're better off, at least for now, doing that on your computer.

Here's how to download Zumobi tiles from your smartphone:

Start Zumobi, Press the "0" (zero) key to launch the menu, then use your directional button to move left-to-right. The Featured tab lists tiles you can select and install readily. Simply scroll to one that you want and follow the prompts to replace one of your existing tiles with the new selection.

But if what interests you isn't visible, shift over to your computer because, ironically, the Zumobi Web site is not convenient to access from your mobile.

Instead, from your computer, visit www.zumobi.com, select Gallery and then click on a category to find tiles that interest you. When you see one you want, click the "Send to My Phone" button. Now, on your smartphone, when you access the Zumobi menu, you'll find that tile in your inbox and you can select it and place it on your home page.

More on Zumobi
The concept behind the Zumobi browser for Windows Mobile is to use selectable "tiles" to give you easy access to the sites you visit most often. Zumobi spun out of Microsoft's development lab last year and went to market with its Zooming User Interface made up of multi-level tiles that you tap to "zoom" into the associated information. The tiles are generally ad-supported widgets with games, news, photos and the like. Next on the drawing board for Zumobi is for adding support for high-end J2ME handsets, including BlackBerry, to the Mix.
