At the Mobile World Congress today, Microsoft rolled out a technology preview of a solution for accessing MSN Direct content on Windows Mobile-based devices. This is the first time MSN Direct content has been made available to mobile phones.

MSN content— such as weather, stock updates and entertainment, sports and business news—is presented directly on your smartphone’s home screen in what Microsoft calls a glanceable format and is updated automatically over your carrier’s data connection.

After installing the technology preview, you can select content based on relevancy and preference. For more in-depth information on the topics a person is exploring, MSN Direct provides links that connect users to the relevant areas of the MSN Mobile portal.

You can preview MSN Direct for Windows Mobile by downloading it directly to your smartphone’s mobile browser or installing it through your PC. No word on when the software, which is free, may become official. To find out more, see here.
