Reports are surfacing that HTC plans to roll out the G2 soon, the follow-up to the T-Mobile G1 based on the open source Google Android platform.

According to BusinessWeek, the G2 would be available in the first half of 2009 and be offered by T-Mobile as well as other carriers. HTC is working on its third Android model as well.

Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson are reportedly preparing versions of the popular Android phone. Google also recently opened up the platform to developers.
