The first Google Android-run phone, the T-Mobile G1, is turning out to be as hot as expected. It is so hot, in fact, the carrier's already sold out of all the 'gPhones' it set aside for delivery on the launch date of October 22nd. And, you know what, that's after taking orders for only a little over a week and tripling the number of units set aside for presale.

If you want a G1, which is built by original design manufacturer HTC, don't fret, however. You can still preorder one, but it won't be delivered until after launch. In addition, there's always the option of trekking down to your local T-Mobile store on G1-day. You never know: you may be able to pick up one up before the store sells out.

Here's T-Mobile's official statement regarding the matter:

Given the great anticipation and the heavy pre-sale demand for the T-Mobile G1 with Google, we nearly tripled the number of phones initially available for delivery on our Oct. 22 launch date, and have sold through them all. However, to accommodate additional T-Mobile customers who want to pre-order a device, they now have the opportunity to place a pre-order through Oct. 21, for delivery at a later date.

Also, people can still pre-register on the T-Mobile G1 Web site to be notified prior to launch where they can purchase the device beginning Oct. 22. Details are available on the T-Mobile G1 Web site, www.T-MobileG1.com.

T-Mobile expects to sell half a million G1s during its first quarter of release, with the number growing to an even more impressive 2 million over the ensuing months.

The smartphone will go for $179 with a two-year contract. Data plans range from $25 (unlimited data with 400 text messages) to $35 per month (no cap on the text messaging).
