If you get this phone, then you owe it to yourself to unlock it ASAP. An open mobile platform is meaningless if you are tied into some ruthless carrier, a carrier who MUST and will try to profit off of you to survive.For example, I'm in wifi 99% of my day. I PAY for these access mediums already. Why am I not utilizing these, when possible, instead of some premium data plan?? This phone means freedom in areas like these because the Android operating system is OPEN. On this platform, third party developers (read: non-NDA-signing third-party-developers... like apples') don't answer to anyone but themselves and the users, and this will be seen when the G1 launches, and when Google open-sources the Android OS shortly after.
