By James Alan Miller
We know the release of the eagerly-awaited OS update is imminent because the two companies sent out an official e-mail to attendees of Microsoft's Australia’s TechEd conference saying so. The message states: "Palm and Microsoft will be announcing the availability of Windows Mobile 6.0 on the Palm Treo 750 Smartphone at Tech.Ed." The conference starts today. Palm and AT&T, the carrier that offers the Treo 750 in the U.S., previously stated this upgrade would be made available free of charge. Windows Mobile 6 should deliver much-improved Mobile Office Applications, support for HTML-formatted e-mail messages, as well as better-performance overall, among other enhancements. There should also be a number of AT&T-specific improvements and add-ons. It's been many months since Microsoft introduced Windows Mobile 6. As a result, folks have gotten antsy, leading them to try unofficial updates, such as one recently revealed for the Treo 750, as well as the Samsung BlackJack and 8525, also offered by AT&T.
