By James Alan Miller
A couple of weeks ago, Palm released a public beta of its PC synchronization software, Palm Desktop 6.2, that allow users of its Palm OS-run Treos (and some handhelds) to finally synchronize Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes with Windows Vista computers. Because of this, DataViz was recently able to introduce a version of Documents To Goits software to allow the creation and editing of Microsoft Office documents on a mobile device#151;that supports Microsoft newest desktop OS as well.
You see, without Palm Desktop support for Vista, DataViz could not allow users of Documents To Go to move Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files between their Palm OS PDA or smartphone and a Vista desktop or laptop. With Palm's new beta software, it can.
The version of Documents To Go that works with Palm Desktop 6.2 Beta 1 is 10.001. It is free to users of Documents To Go version 10.
DataViz warns that since Palm Desktop 6.2 is still in beta, you may run into issues/problems, as the software isn't of release quality. And since Palm Desktop 6.2 Beta 1 is only compatible with Treo 755p , 700p, 680, and 650 smartphones and Palm TX, Z22 and Tungsten E2 handhelds, Documents To Go version 10.001 is as well. This leaves out plenty of other Palm OS devices, such as the Tungsten T5, LifeDrive or Treo 600. Palm Desktop 6.2 Beta 1 is available from Palm here. You can obtain the Vista-compatible edition of Documents To Go here. Related Links:
