BeeJive First With iPhone IM, Cerulean Studios Second

BeeJive this week became the first company to provide an instant messaging (IM) solution the iPhone, which was released by Apple and AT&T back on June 29th. It was quickly followed by Cerulean Studios, which unveiled its own iPhone IM solution as well.

Specifically designed for the Safari browser used on the iPhone, BeeJive's JiveTalk for iPhone (see top image) is a free public alpha release and includes features such as multi-accounts, a unified buddy (contact) list, instantaneous chats, chat switching, auto-reconnects, roam between Wi-Fi and EDGE, status messages, auto-reconnect and more.

To try the alpha version of Jivetalk, iPhone users can point Safari on their iPhone to iphone.beejive.com/ BeeJive

As for Cerulean Studios, it is also working on porting its Trillian Astra cross-protocol instant messenger to Macs and to the iPhone. The official Cerulean Studios blog was recently updated with three screenshots of Trillian Astra running on an iPhone.

The developers say that the contact list and message windows are up and running and that this interface of Trillian Astra was specifically designed for iPhone. The blog also invites iPhone users to sign up as Trillian Astra alpha testers.
