The second version of Sling Media's wireless-device client for Palm OS devices is now available for download. SlingPlayer Mobile links a handheld or smartphone to a Slingbox device, which is attached to a user's home television.

As a result, users can 'placeshift' cable, satellite, or digital video recorder (DVR) content to wherever they are in the world through a wireless broadband Internet connection. In the case of a DVR, for example, users can not only watch recorded shows remotely, but pause and rewind live TV or queue new recordings from their device as well.

In addition to a number of fixes and performance improvements, SlingPlayer Beta 2 for the Palm OS adds the following:

 Remote control commands for additional A/V devices are now available

 Keyboard shortcuts have been revised

 The default audio profile has been changed to Mono High instead of Stereo Low

 The last channel icon has been revised to eliminate confusion with the “Play” icon

The Palm OS SlingPlayer Beta 2 supports the Palm Treo 700p or 755p with 3G (EV-DO) wireless service and a high-speed Internet connection of at least 256Kb upstream speed at home. It should, according to Sling Media, work with the Treo 650 and 680 plus the Palm TX handheld as well.
