Canada's Rogers Wireless is now carring HTC's self-branded TyTN smartphone, a Windows Mobile 5.O Pocket PC Phone. The TyTN was one of the first devices introduced by the original design manufacturer when it made the move to branding smartphones under its own name last June. HTC is responsible for more Microsoft-based mobile handsets than any other—85 percent of them.

The TyTN is a tri-band GSM/EDGE/UTMS/HSDPA handset with a slide-out QWERTY thumb-keyboard and a 2.8-inch touch-screen display. Rogers is the only carrier in Canada (as Cingular is in the U.S.) to deliver high-speed 3.5G cellular-broadband network for data services based on HSDPA technology.

Although the TyTN is a Windows Mobile 5.0 and not a 6.0 device, it does support push e-mail in an Exchange setting through Microsoft's Messaging and Security Feature Pack. (The TyTN was one of several smartphones for which HTC announced it would eventually offer free Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrades.)

Additional features (originally known as the Hermes) include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mini-USB port connectivity. There's 64 MB of RAM, 128 MB of ROM, microSD slot for additional storage, jog wheel and a 2-megapixel camera.

It weighs 6.3 ounces (180 grams) and measures 4.4 x 2.3 x 0.9 inches (112.5 x 58 x 21.95 millimeters)

Rogers sells the TyTN for $399.99 (Canadian) with a three year contract.
