By James Alan Miller
According to Brighthand, the leaked Sprint listing not only confirms the 755p's existence, but also that it'll come in blue or burgundy. While it doesn't include a price, the listing appears to validate earlier rumors that the 755p will ship next month. It doesn't give a specific date, however. Previous reports said the 755p would be available on May 14th. Here's what else we know about the 755p so far: As with the 700p, available from CDMA/EV-DO carriers like Sprint and Verizon Wireless, the Treo 755p will run on the Palm OS a modified version of ACCESS's Garnet platform. And, as you can see from the picture, the 755p looks a lot like Palm's most recent Treo models (e.g. 750, 680) for GSM operators: AT&T (formally Cingular) carries both of those models in the U.S. This means the 755p will lose the 700p’s antenna and be slimmer, lighter, and more compact than the 700p The new smartphone will be 3G-enabled through support for CDMA operators' EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized network) cellular-wireless networks. This high-speed technology carries content - video, e-mail, pictures, etc. - at average rates of 400 to 700 kilobits per second. Other than this, not much else is known about the upcoming 755p. We'll report more details as we learn them. Related Links:
