Microsoft replaced its long-time synchronization software ActiveSync with the snazzier and, supposedly, easier-to-use Windows Mobile Device Center in Windows Vista. With it, you can sync data and files between your PC and Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone.

By default, Windows Mobile Device Center uses generic images to illustrate a Pocket PC or Smartphone syncing. There's is a way to personalize this picture, however.

In short, you need to change out the icon of the generic device with one of your own choosing, and place a copy in Windows directory of your handheld before connecting to Windows Mobile Device Center for the first time. Therefore you may need to remove the device and re-add it. PDAPhoneHome explains exactly how to do it.

You can also browse your handheld's contents from a PC. It is compatible with devices running Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, and Windows Mobile 2003.
