Rumor: iPhone OS Upgrade 1.1.3 Forthcoming

Rumor has it Apple may release the latest update to the iPhone, version 1.1.3, tomorrow. This upgrade is supposed to bring voice notes (a welcome new feature that would be very convenient) and disk mode to the party.

Disk mode allows you to access the iPhone's memory when it is attached to your computer just like any other storage device. That means you'll be able to drag and drop files between your iPhone and PC or Mac. It is a feature already available to the majority of iPods.

It has only been about a month since Apple rolled out update 1.1.2 to iPhone users. That platform upgrade didn't bring much new in the way of features to the iPhone. It did, as expected, snatch the ability to run third-party applications and wireless network portability (unlocking) right out from under the noses of iPhone users, just like the one before that, once again, however.

If the 1.1.3 rumor is true, then be prepared for another round of cat and mouse between Apple and the hackers who enabled the iPhone to do these things.
