Tip: Windows Mobile - Missing Album Art with MP3s?

By Kevin Hall

Many MP3 sound files are also embedded with image information so that when you play a song, you are treated to a shot of the album art the song is from. Windows Mobile is capable of displaying these images, but do you find that a lot of the MP3 files you play show no image?

While some MP3s simply aren't coded to include an accompanying picture, like those released by small bands and independent musicians, most of the music you purchase from online providers such as iTunes or rip from your CDs are.

With Windows Mobile, you'll find it easiest to use Windows ActiveSync to make sure everything works the way it should. If your legit MP3s still won't display images in Windows Mobile after ActiveSync, try right clicking on the file on your PC and check the way it's tagged.

Are the artist, song title and album information all filled in? If everything is where it should be, many music programs such as Windows Media Player will look up the file online and retrieve any missing information.
