The World's Smallest Cell Phone

Smartphones and cell phones are getting smaller. Half a year ago Fifth Media introduced the AXIA A308, perhaps the world's smallest Pocket PC Phone. And then there's Cingular's 2125, the smallest Windows Smartphone, and the carrier's new 3125, the thinnest - both based on original design manufacturer High Tech Computer designs.

In the world of good old regular mobile phones, Cingular has been offering the Pantech C300, a tiny (2.72 x 1.69 x 0.76 inch) camera flip phone for a few months now. And yet, if that handset isn't small enough for you, perhaps the latest in cell phone smallness may find its way your way, the Xun Chi 138.

A marvel of miniaturization, the Xun Chi 138 is not much larger than a pair of AA batteries. It is only 2.64 inches long and weighs less than 2 ounces.

The Xun Chi 138 may be tiny, but it still packs a camera, MP3 player, and 121 MB of RAM. Being so small, there must be sacrifices, however. The Xun Chi 138 lacks a keypad (or Bluetooth for that matter), but instead relies on its 260k color touch screen to for number and text input.

And, unfortunately for those looking to access data services, it appears the GSM Xun Chi 138 will only offer GPRS connectivity, not even EDGE let along any type of 3G.

It's not known when this device will become available, let alone if it will even ship outside of Asia.
