Palm Still Doesn't Get It
These latest statements from Ed Colligan goes to show that the staff at Palm is very out of touch. First of all if they are still paying for Wi-Fi, they are fools. Most places today offer free Wi-Fi with the exception of Starbucks. Maybe they should go some place else for coffee and see what is really happening in coffee shops. It is great that you can have broadband speeds (it only goes up to 400kb) but the plans can be more than some people need or want. I have a number of clients that buy the $24.96 10mb plan and use WiFi where it is available and since most hotels and coffee shops offer this for free, they save $20 or more a month. The final point I would like to make is that it is what the CONSUMER wants! Stop trying to build units you THINK people want and start listening to what they DO want. I don't think that the staff at Palm would know what a customer wanted if it was beaten into them. palm does somethings better that Windows but they continue to stay years behind the competition. Do they even know the handheld market anymore?
