Nokia, the world's best-selling cell phone and smartphone vendor, unveiled an eclectic group of consumer-orientated multimedida Symbian/S60 handsets last year, the NSeries— in a bid put itself back on the cutting edge. The most high-profile NSeries member to ship so far has been the Carl Zeiss-powered N90 camera phone. Next month, the Finnish phone giant will release a free download to enhance all NSeries models, Nokia Lifeblog 2.0, which is for PCs as well. According to Nokia, the purpose of the software is to make collecting, storing and sharing multimedia content easier than ever. Stored content - viewable on the phone and PC - includes photos, video clips, messages and text notes. Unlike Version 1.0, LifeBlog 2.0 provides a context for viewing by letting users include audio notes as well as other contextual information, such as calendar entries and location data, with their diary. Because LifeBlog is a blog, content is stored chronologically. Nokia stresses this makes it easy to browse, search, view and share content both on your smartphone as well as desktop computer. Millions of people aren't blogging because it's complicated, right? The software also links information about location, time or calendar entries to photos taken with your NSeries smartphone. Take a picture during a meeting or at a birthday party and that photo will be tagged with information about that event. Always available mobile device photography - camera phones in particular - changed the way people capture events and create memories—it's far more spontaneous, according to Mikko Pilkama, Nokia Director Nseries Multimedia. "Because of this we have developed a version of Nokia Lifeblog that works exclusively with our Nokia Nseries range. This new version of Nokia Lifeblog provides users with a simple solution to store, manage and share the personal multimedia content they’ve created. It’s like having a photo album and a multimedia diary that builds itself," Pilkama declared.
An earlier version of LifeBlog, compatible with other Nokia smartphones, is available for download now. Version 2.0 for the N92, N90, N71, N91, N80, N70 isn't due until the end of April
