ODM Error Delays Treo 680?

Palm might be regretting its choice of Inventec to build its new entry-level Treo 680 smartphone, the ODM's first device for the PDA pioneer.

According to what CrunchGear asserts is a reliable source, the Treo 680 has been delayed. The reason: Inventec neglected to connect microphones for a batch of the new smartphones. Not a small batch mind you; but a whopping 144,000 of them.

Worst of all, the manufacturer reportedly managed to send them all out to retailers before the problem was discovered. And since a simple firmware update couldn't fix the problem, it had to take them all back and correct the error manually. That is one at a time.

The problem, which not doubt put Palm a bit behind schedule, is supposed to be fixed now.
