Nokia Delivers 2-Megapixel N70 to Carriers
By James Alan Miller September 28, 2005
Nokia introduced a trio of cutting edge smartphones, the N90, N91 and N70, back April. As with most of its high end devices, the three new models are built on the Symbian operating system and the Finnish phone giant's own Series 60 interface.
Today, the company announced the delivery of one of these advanced handsets, the N70, to carriers. The dual mode GSM/GPRS (900/1800/1900 MHz) Nokia N70 is the world's smallest Series 60 based 3G WCDMA device with a 2-megapixel camera for picture and video.
The N70 measures 4.2 x 2.1 x 0.9 inches (108.8 x 53 x 21.8 millimeters) and weighs 4.4 ounces (126 grams). Its 2-megapixel camera has a flash, 20x digital zoom, and a red-eye reduction feature too.
There’s even a second VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) with 2x digital zoom on the front of the N70. The N70’s display sports 256 thousand colors and a 176 x 208 pixel resolution
Slide & Shoot
Nokia asserts an intuitive slide and shoot design lets users easily access and activate the camera (located on the rear of the phone), while a dedicated shutter key allows for greater stability and ease of use for picture taking.

With the new Nokia XpressTransfer storing solution, all photos and video clips on the Nokia N70 can either be manually or automatically copied to compatible PCs. Furthermore, the standard Nokia N70 sales package also includes new Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 software, offering users a way for viewing, finding, fixing and sharing images and video clips on their desktop.
Nokia also integrates an FM radio, a digital music player, stereo audio, and support for the MP3, AAC, RealAudio, H.263 and MPEG4 media formats in the N70. There's Bluetooth and USB 2.0 for connectivity, and a slot for RS-MMC (reduced size MultiMediaCards) for additional storage. There’s 30 MB of internal memory.
Carriers are expected to deliver the N70 to consumers by the end of this quarter. We'll report additional information, such as availability and cost, as it becomes available.
