An electronics product must earn the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) seal of approval before a manufacturer can release it in the United States. This week, the U.S. agency did just that for a pair of Pocket PCs from Acer. According to reports, the two new handheld models - the N310 and N311- measure a relatively compact 4.3 x 2.75 x 0.55 inches (110 x 70 x 14 millimeters) and light 4.75 ounces (135 grams). Both devices feature Bluetooth 1.2 for personal area networking, while the N311 adds Wi-Fi. The N300 series also boast 3.7-inch 640 x 480 pixel resolution (VGA) displays, Windows Mobile 5.0 (Microsoft's newest handheld operating system), 64 MB of RAM and a Secure Digital slot for memory and peripheral expansion. The higher-end N311 adds a 128 MB of ROM plus a 400 MHZ CPU, to the N310's 300 MHz processor and 64 MB of ROM. We'll report more on Acer's new Pocket PC handhelds, such as availability and cost, when that information becomes available. Related Links:
