By James Alan Miller
The 761 is the second device in Intermec's 300,000-strong 700 series to be supported by Verizon. The rugged cellular-wireless handheld supports voice and data transmission using CDMA/1XRTT technologies and employs Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition software. Designed for use in harsh environments, the 700 series can withstand multiple 5-foot (1.5 meter) drops to concrete and is sealed against rain and dust. The device supports A-GPS location services and WLAN (802.11b) Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth personal area networking wireless capabilities. The 761 measures 7.5 x 3.5 X 2.0 inches and weighs 17 to 20 ounces, depending on options selected. The screen is a Pocket PC typical 240 X 320 pixels 64K color type and its lithium ion battery specs out to deliver 6-10 hours of power on a single charge. A 400 MHz Intel XScale processor and 64 MB or 128 MB of RAM power the handheld, plus there are several memory and peripheral expansion card choices. Related Links:
