Sales Engineer
AvantGo works great on a (Windows) PDA it is although useless on a Blackberry. The Blackberry version doesn't have a data sync possibility. Loading the pages by a GPRS session is horrible and does most of the time even not work. I hope they are going to implement also the sync capability.

Smartphone
In Paragraph 6

"The next-generation AvantGo delivers an unparalleled mobile content experience. Smartphone and wireless PDA users will find added convenience and functionality, and all users now have the opportunity to explore and personalize the service to a greater degree."

I gues the word "Smartphone" should be remove because according to avantgo support it wont work in smart phone and it s***s.

official statement from avantgo
Question: Does AvantGo run on the Microsoft Smartphone platform?

Answer: The AvantGo software is not supported on Microsoft Smartphone devices. If you install the PocketPC version of AvantGo, you may experience problems with your ActiveSync desktop software.

avantgo not compatible with smartphones
I have a brand new smartphone (november 2005) with the newest version of windows mobile 2003, second editon. When I try to install the avantgo "smartphone" software on my phone I get the message that it is not compatible with my smartphone. Apparently, avantgo has released software for windows CE devices, but not for smartphones.

Too much vital space taken up
I installed the latest version (5.7) on my Ipaq 1940 (wm2003) & then synchronised my pages via activesync (3.8), watching with concern my free ram being eaten up from 9.6 mb down to 4.1
I re-synced, only to watch my free ram reduce by another 50k.
I loaded the application & found the minimum font size caused all pages to require sideways scrolling.
I uninstalled, to go back to 3.3 ie integrated, but could not do so, until I manually removed the registry entries.
checking the FAQ's I also found the web pages cannot be stored in a storage card.
I do not have wifi or gsm/gprs, so do not require wireless sync, but I do require to be able to read a news page without having to scroll sideways all the time - very frustrating, for those of us who do not have luxury of vga screens or landscape mode.
