MobiMate has released a new Professional Edition for WorldMate, a travel application for multiple platforms, including the Palm OS, Pocket PC and Symbian OS. The new version is aimed at business travelers.

The company said the orignial WorldMate, Standard Edition (WorldMate SE), is aimed at serving users whose needs are relatively modest, who do not travel very often and travel mostly for leisure and are most interested in local information and information that will enable them to conduct international business via phone and email.

On the other hand, WorldMate Professional Edition (WorldMate Pro) is aimed at frequent business travelers, who require more travel-related information and tools to assist them in planning, managing and tracking their business travel. WorldMate Professional Edition is slated to include all WorldMate Standard Edition features and services, as well as several additional capabilities and premium content.

According to MobiMate, WorldMate Professional Edition version 1.0 includes the following features:

-- Itinerary Management - Including Flights, Hotels, Cars, Meetings and more - including full Date-Book integration
-- Global Weather - 5-day Weather Forecasts from The Weather Channel(TM) for over 38,000 locations worldwide, including over 30,000 US locations - searchable by name or zip code
-- Tip and Tax calculator - Calculates recommended tip and tax amounts in over 30 countries worldwide for 7 different products and services - from a Restaurant bill to a Hotel Concierge
-- World Clocks and Time Calculator
-- World Map and Day/Night Display
-- Currency converter with on-line rates update
-- Unit, size and measurements converters
-- International dialing prefixes and US area-codes list

The professional edition is now available for Palm OS devices. Versions for additional platforms are slated to be released in the third quarter.
