MobiMate today announced an agreement with Sony Ericsson to bundle its WorldMate travel application with the P800 mobile phone. This is the first Symbian OS smartphone supported by WorldMate, a travel utility that includes world clocks, world weather, and currency conversion.
WorldMate includes world clocks with automatic DST calculation, a world map with day/night display, 5-day worldwide weather forecasts from The Weather Channel updated online, a currency converter with daily exchange rate updates, and more. In addition to Symbian OS, the product is available for the Palm OS and Pocket PC platforms.
In addition to being a mobile phone, the P800 is a digital camera, a video player, an MP3 player and an organizer with a color touch screen. It supports polyphonic sound, Multimedia messaging , Java and Bluetooth. The P800 comes with a 16 MB Memory Stick Duo plus additional 12MB internal storage space. The email, calendar, contacts and notes applications can be synchronized with Outlook and Lotus Notes on a PC. The P800 also handles email with attachments, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat. It is a tri-band phone and also supports GPRS.
