By PDAStreet.com Staff Agfa Monotype Corporation has joined Symbian's Platinum Program to provide fonts and font technologies to software developers who produce Symbian OS data-enabled mobile phones. According to Agfa Monotype, its TrueType-based font engine, iType, allows for the rapid generation of characters at virtually any size. In addition to over 1,300 TrueType fonts and Agfa Monotype's WorldType multi-language Unicode-compliant fonts, the company said Symbian OS developers can choose from a selection of typefaces fine-tuned for optimal display on mobile phones and other low-resolution, memory-constrained devices. "We're pleased to be able to offer our fonts and our small, fast font engine to Symbian OS developers," said Steve Kuhlman, vice president and general manager of Display Imaging at Agfa Monotype. "Whether requirements call for different font styles or multiple languages, Symbian customers are now able to implement a superior quality solution tailored to their needs, backed by our team of experienced engineers, designers and customer support specialists. Through our technologies, PC-quality text display is now available for Symbian OS mobile phones." Related Links:
