By James Miller
December 2, 2003

Handango is more than just an online store that sells a comprehensive number of PDA and smartphone applications for all the major handheld platform. It also has a thriving business where software and hardware vendors use its Handango Commerce Engine to create their own brand specific store fronts. The Handango Commerce Engine is the transaction processing and application provisioning module of Handango AMPP, Handango's mobile software delivery platform.

The company has just added two more vendors to its mobile e-commerce hat, Mobile Digital Media (MDM) and Mobility Electronics, who's online stores are now located at www.goMDM.com and www.quickoffice.com, respectively.

Mobile Digital Media is a publisher of software for PDAs and smartphones on expansion media. In addition to the new Mobile Digital Media store, Handango said it will now carry MDM's full line of card-based and downloadable mobile software applications for Symbian Series 60, Palm OS and Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC devices at its own website.

MDM titles include Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition, & Franklin Thesaurus, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, Wine Enthusiast, Sega Classics featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, Game Essentials featuring SimCity, PopCap Puzzle Pack featuring Bejeweled. New titles shipping this holiday season include Merriam-Webster Crossword Puzzles & Word Challenges, Age of Empires: Pocket PC Edition from Microsoft Game Studio, and Atari Retro classic games.

According to Mobility Electronics, with its new online storefront, it will be able to deliver its Symbian Series 60 applications to Nokia 3650 and 7650 users as well as continue to offer its Palm OS software titles. Among its software titles is QuickOffice, one of the best mobile office titles on the market that is compatible with Microsoft Office.
